Swim Team Visiting Team Information

Welcome to the home of the Lionfish, we are looking forward to hosting your team at BRSC! Please find below our visiting team guidelines and helpful information to ensure the meet runs smoothly.

The BRSC pool is a 6-lane, 25 meter pool equipped with starting blocks on the ‘start’ end. Relay starts on the ‘turn’ end will be in the water.

Arrival Time – You are welcome to arrive at our pool beginning at 5:15 pm. Please do not arrive any earlier as we will still be setting up and making space on the pool deck for our visitors.

Parking – As you enter BRSC, please turn right and follow the path that travels parallel to the road and tennis courts. Beware of the speed bumps!….they are not the gentle kind! As you pass the tennis courts on the left you will reach the back/ pool parking lot – you may park anywhere in this lot. If this lot is already filled, you can also park up near the club house and take the path behind the clubhouse over to the pool.

• PLEASE consider carpooling or limiting the number of extended family attendees at this meet. Our pool deck is very SMALL compared to other teams and, while our parking lots can accommodate a fair number of people, there are limited options for overfill parking once the lots are full.

• PLEASE be VERY careful when leaving our club at the end of the meet; it is a right turn only out of the club, for your safety! There is a blind curve just up from the club entrance and drivers tend to SPEED down that stretch of road. Once you turn right, there is a place you can safely make a U-Turn just a few 100 yards up the road.

Visiting Team Area – Your team’s spectators can set up along the RIGHT side of the pool closest to the entry gate/ parking lot side. Once the right side of the pool deck is full, overflow spectators can set up in the grassy area outside of the fence on the RIGHT/ BACK side of the pool – keeping the sidewalk CLEAR for timers to move from one end of the pool to the other more quickly. Spectators may also set up in the baby pool area of the deck (behind the turn end) but please do not allow swimmers/ families to use the baby pool.

• Please inform your swimmers that:
  • The area around/ behind the SLIDE is OFF LIMITS during the meet because our volunteers need to be able to navigate behind the slide to get our swimmers up to the blocks.

• They cannot crowd up or congregate too close to the blocks because it gets very loud and makes it difficult for the swimmers & timers to hear the starter/ horn.

• PLEASE do NOT sit along the SLIDE (left) side of the pool; this area is reserved for our home team spectators and the Lionfish bull pen.

• CLERK of COURSE: We will set up a tent for your bull pen and staging chairs for your team on the visitor side of the pool.

• There are only limited chairs available for the team/ spectators so please plan to bring your own. The visitor side of the pool deck can be very sunny in the evening so you may bring extra tents/ umbrellas to set up along that side if you want.

Warm ups-- Visiting Team warm-ups are from 5:35-5:50pm. BRSC warm up will begin at 5:20 to 5:35.

Timers/Judges –There will be a timer/ stroke & turn judge meeting at the computer tent (turn end, near the baby pool) at 5:45pm or 15 minutes prior to start of meet. We would like to have timers and judges from both teams attend the meeting.

Computers/Ribbons – The computer/ printer will be located under a tent just to the side of the wooden steps leading to the concession stand/ restrooms at the turn end of the pool. If you are running the computer or labeling ribbons, please report there before the start of the meet/ session.

Volunteer Refreshments – All volunteers are welcome to complimentary water, there will be a cooler set up near the computer tent and one of the BRSC volunteers will go around during each half to hand out waters to timers/ judges.

Heat Sheets - We will provide heat sheets for visiting team’s coaching staff only. Please feel free to distribute an electronic copy to your team parents.

Restrooms – Restrooms and showers are located in the pool building on deck near the entrance gate – follow the wooden steps/ ramp to the top to find concessions and restrooms.

Concessions Information:

• Blakeney Lionfish will be moving to only having a food truck at our home meets this summer and there will be no other, traditional concession stand open.

• Roman’s Treats and Dogs – cash and credit card accepted
  • June 6^th& June 17^th– Food cart only (Burgers, dogs, chicken sandwiches, bratwurst, chips & drinks
  • June 10^th& June 20^th– Full-service trailer menu (all of the above + chicken strips, wraps, Italian sausage, gyro, club sandwich, deep fried pickles, French fries, assorted desserts, soft pretzels and Italian ice)
