Coaches and Representatives,

Attached is the Heat Sheet for this weekend's Championship Meet. Warm-up assignments were issued previously by the GCSL Board.

Typical Session Schedule

  • Scratches and the insertion of alternates (including relays) must be completed in the Timing Room at least 30 minutes before each session begins. We will not reseed.
  • Alternates are listed on the heat sheet. Alternates are to be inserted only if the seeded swimmer is unable to swim.
  • The relay order may be changed until the relay event begins.
  • The Timers' Briefing will be held under the large scoreboard 30 minutes before the session and will be conducted by the starter.
  • The pool will close 20 minutes before each session begins.

The Coaches/Representatives Meeting will be held in the Timing Room at the conclusion of warm-ups. Please have one Coach and one Team Representative from each team attend.

Items we will discuss include:

  • Meet Mobile: Results will be pushed to Meet Mobile as soon as each event has been finalized and scored. Meet Mobile is dependent on Wi-Fi connectivity, so while results may be posted immediately, they may not appear on your device right away.
  • No Shows: Unless the error is ours, athletes who miss their heat will not be inserted into a later heat. As time permits, we will make courtesy announcements reminding 10&U swimmers to report to the Clerk of Course for the 25-yard events. However, it is ultimately the athlete's responsibility to report to the correct heat and lane.
  • Starts: We will use dive-over starts for all 11&U events of 50 yards or longer. The pool will be cleared between heats of all relays and heats of the 25-yard events. Please remind your athletes to remain in the water until the next heat has started, except for the 25-yard events.
  • Relays: Please remind relay swimmers to exit the pool promptly after completing their leg of the relay.
  • Rules and Officiating: We will follow USA Swimming rules (Blue Pages) for all age groups, with one exception. For backstroke turns, we will follow High School rules, which do not require a continuous turning motion after the swimmer initiates the flip turn. Please see the attached Officials' Briefing for additional details.
    • We have assembled a team of six experienced USA Swimming officials who will call what they observe, intending to provide a fair and equitable competition across all eight lanes and every heat.
    • Disqualification slips will be available in the Timing Room, and a report with results will be issued at the conclusion of the meet.
    • Results will become official 15 minutes after the meet concludes.
    • If you have a rules question, please see me immediately. I will not review videos or discuss rulings with parents.
  • Please remind parents that all questions should be directed to their coach or team representative. Parents should not approach officials during the meet.

If you have any questions before the meet, please email me. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

Regards,

Jeffrey Childs
